History of Central Park

Central Park is the former site of the DuPont/Biderman mansion and was converted into a park in 1904-5 with plans created by Frederick Law Olmsted. Central Park is now the site of the Old Louisville Visitors Center, Kentucky Shakespeare and other visual and performing arts.

Master Plan

In 2005, Louisville Metro Parks and Olmsted Parks Conservancy developed a master plan for Central Park. The intent was to recognize long-term improvements and opportunities that add recreational value to the park while maintaining the intent of the original Olmsted Brothers Plan.
