The Olmsted firm started design plans for Wayside Park as early as 1893. In 1897 the park was designated as the site for an Enid Yandell-designed memorial to the cycling pioneer A. D. Ruff. Wayside is a small park bordered by Southern Parkway with views of the Churchill Downs horse barns.
