Add Your Input on the 2025 Metro Budget

Back to News & Updates

Mayor Craig Greenberg presented the fiscal year 2025 budget on April 25, and the proposal includes several Olmsted Park System projects:

$200,000: Complete Central Park’s sidewalk reconstruction
$300,000: Repair the Central Park pergola
$150,000: Renovate the Chickasaw Park lodge
$375,000: Renovate the Gaulbert Pavilion near Big Rock in Cherokee Park

In addition to these Olmsted Park-specific allocations, there is a proposed program that would have significant benefits for all Metro Parks. The budget includes $300,000 for park rangers who would provide monitoring and enforce park rules for the protection of park users, amenities, and natural areas.

The public is encouraged to participate in the budget process by submitting public comment on the recommended budget. The online comment form is located on the Metro Council website, and a direct link is here: https://louisvilleky.wufoo.com/forms/m1ch63vw16xojrl/. The online form will close on Friday, June 7, at 5:00 p.m.
