2027 Metro Budget: What’s In It For The Parks?

Back to News & Updates

Olmsted Parks Conservancy raises funds and advocates for investment for Louisville’s parks, and we work to help build community in and around the Olmsted Parks. We center community voices through feedback from park users, neighborhood groups, and other key stakeholders regarding park projects and programming needs in their neighborhood parks.

Bingham Park Rendering

This year, we asked Mayor Greenberg to include $1.5 million in Louisville Parks and Recreation’s budget so that we can begin improvements to Bingham Park and to continue improvements in Shawnee Park.

Thank you to our members, park neighbors, and park users for lending your voices and advocating for investment in Louisville’s parks. Your outreach and engagement helped ensure that funding for improvements at Bingham and Shawnee Parks was included in Metro’s FY27 budget that was approved by Metro Council last week.

Because of your efforts, we’re one step closer to reimagining Bingham Park as an accessible, welcoming community space and continuing critical improvements in Shawnee Park. We are deeply grateful for your support and your commitment to strengthening our parks and the communities they serve.
