Shawnee Sprayground

Back to News & Updates

The new playground and sprayground, to be completed in spring 2011, in Shawnee Park is modeled after one that was installed in Iroquois Park three years ago. It is designed so children of all abilities (including those in wheelchairs) may have full and independent use of the equipment. The sprayground’s design features will resemble a steamboat to accentuate the park’s unique Ohio River setting. The playground will consist of swing sets, slides, and water features. All parts of the equipment, including a Sway Fun Glider will be accessible to children of all abilities. Olmsted Parks Conservancy partnered with the DREAM Foundation as well as Metro Parks to make the playground/ sprayground possible. Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton, PNC Bank, and other generous donors also contributed to its development.
