Seneca Park Loop Extension

Back to News & Updates

After breaking ground May 5, 2014, the final work for the Seneca Park multi-use recreational loop is underway. Excel Excavating is working on the final 2.5-mile portion of the 4-mile loop around Seneca Park and Bowman Field.

The extension will include a 10 ft. wide asphalt path intended for walkers, runners and bicyclists along Dutchman’s Lane and Cannons Lane; shared lane markings along Park Hills Drive from Old Cannons Lane to Seneca Park Road; and a 5-ft. shoulder along each side of Seneca Park Road from Park Hills Drive to Pee Wee Reese Road.

The $806,000 extension funded by Louisville Public Works, will run northeast along Dutchman’s Lane from Taylorsville Road to Cannons Lane, northwest along Cannons Lane from Dutchman’s Lane along the Bowman Field fence line to Old Cannons Lane. From there it will run west along Park Hills Drive and Seneca Park Road to connect with the northern end of the existing path at Pee Wee Reese Road.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of August.
