Before we could renovate Elliott Park, it was important for us to gain a deep understanding of the community around the park. Director of Outreach and Advocacy Sarah Wolff visited the park frequently and also spent time at ElderServe across the street. The relationships gained continue to inform our work activating the park.

National Senior Citizen Day is the perfect time to celebrate ElderServe members at Elliott Park. It is a day to recognize the wisdom and experience of our elders, and also to raise awareness of the challenges that senior citizens face. The park was full of neighbors enjoying line dancing and Tai Chi demonstrations while sharing a meal. We worked with several community partners to have booths at the event offering health resources. We are thankful that Louisville Parks and Recreation, Oak Street Health, JenCare, Aetna and OneHealth joined us and ElderServe to celebrate seniors!

Through outreach and advocacy, we partner with the community to foster pride and support for our parks. Thank you for supporting this important work!
