Louisville parks & recreation hosting a public meeting on August 17th

FROM LOUISVILLE PARKS & RECREATION: In an effort to keep citizens engaged and informed about traffic patterns along Cherokee Park’s Scenic Loop, Louisville Parks and Recreation officials, Olmsted Parks Conservancy and Councilwoman Cassie Chambers Armstrong will host a public meeting at the Hogan’s Fountain Pavilion beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17.   Sections of the loop road that had been closed during the COVID-19 pandemic reopened in late June. The Scenic Loop was closed in its entirety in late April 2020 at the onset of the pandemic due to increased use and concerns about negative pedestrian/vehicle interactions.

Members of the parks department along with Cherokee Park partners will be on hand to collect public feedback and answer questions via an open-house meeting at the pavilion from 5:30 – 8 p.m. A short presentation will occur at 6 p.m.

Those who are unable to attend can fill out a survey on the Cherokee Loop here or can offer feedback by e-mailing parks@louisvilleky.gov.

The August 17 meeting follows public meetings conducted virtually and online regarding Cherokee Park Scenic Loop closures this spring and is part of a comprehensive community input process that will guide future use and access.
