Member of the Month:The Blieden Family

Back to News & Updates

In this new series about members of Olmsted Parks Conservancy, Andy Blieden, a local developer and owner of Butchertown Market, answers questions about why he and his family are passionate about the Olmsted Parks.

Favorite Park? It’s a tie between Cherokee, Seneca and Shawnee.

Favorite Park Activity? It’s a tie between riding my bike, taking my kids to various wonderful playgrounds, and going to Big Rock to enjoy Beargrass Creek while catching (and releasing) crawdaddies.

Why do you love the Olmsted Parks? I love the Parks because they positively engage all of my senses. They help keep my mind and body in shape and give me a much needed shot of nature right in my backyard.

Why do you support the Olmsted Parks Conservancy? I support this organization because I want my kids and grandkids to love and enjoy the Olmsted Parks as much as we have. We have been given this wonderful gift of a park system and we must do everything in our power to preserve, restore and enhance them.
