Tree Triage Thursdays
For the last six years, we have been clearing out the bush honeysuckle in Cherokee and Seneca Parks. We are seeing native re-growth in the cleared areas, but we are also seeing the invasive vines flourish. Such vines as porcelain berry, grapevine and bittersweet are happily growing up and over trees, strangling, deforming and in some cases killing the trees.
On July 18, July 25 and August 1, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Olmsted Parks Conservancy staff and volunteers will cut down the vines to save the trees. Timing is critical because we want to remove the vines before they seed and produce more killer vines!
