Replenishing the Tree Canopy

Thanks to donations to Olmsted Parks Conservancy, more trees were planted in your Olmsted Parks. It is important to replenish the tree canopy in Louisville and winter is a perfect time to plant. Check out where we’ve planted recently:

Cherokee Park now has 100 more trees throughout the park with help from Louisville Parks and Recreation and Conservancy volunteers.

Seneca Park has 250 new trees and shrubs thanks to a $5,000 grant from LG&E Plant for the Planet program and our donors matching funds.

Shelby Park has 10 new trees including redbuds, oaks, and magnolias, thanks to donors and several volunteer groups who helped plant and mulch them.

The Conservancy and its donors are committed to planting more trees throughout the Olmsted Parks and Parkways system. Join us on a volunteer day or make a donation here.

Iroquois Park was nicknamed “Louisville’s Yellowstone” because of its mature forest that blankets the hillsides.
