It’s hot! Cool off in the Olmsted Parks spraygrounds

When the weather is this hot, there’s no better bargain than the FREE spraygrounds in our Olmsted Parks!

Spraygrounds, or splash pads, fall into two categories in parks across the city. The older models consist of a concrete pad with an obelisk that continuously sprays water. The modern spraygrounds consist of more diverse spray features, with some of them being interactive. In recent years, Olmsted Parks Conservancy has upgraded several older model splash pads, installing modern spraygrounds as funding allows.

One of the best spraygrounds is in Shawnee Park!

The newest sprayground upgrades are in Victory Park, Central Park and Elliott Park.

Spraygrounds cost between $300,000 and $500,000 to build, so these are significant investments in our park system! We are grateful to our Olmsted Parks Conservancy members who make these improvements possible.
