Experience Shawnee Park the way Olmsted intended!
Join us for a guided exploration of Shawnee Park, one of three “flagship” parks designed in Louisville by Frederick Law Olmsted in the late 1800’s (along with Cherokee and Iroquois Parks). Amidst the beautiful backdrop of autumn, we’ll hike past unique park features (such as the “Pinetum,” a curated collection of pine family trees) on our way to the RiverWalk, where we’ll take in scenic views of the Ohio River just as Olmsted envisioned. All along the way, we’ll hear from Director of Stewardship Matt Spalding about the ecology of the river and the birds and trees that make this park special. Afterward, hang out at Shawnee Pavilion for complimentary snacks!
Accessibility information: Parking is available at the park. The walking path is paved, but includes hills.
