SOLD OUT – Interpretive Hike: Migratory Songbirds

April 30, 9 am – 11 AM
Learn more and register

Birds are on the move again in Louisville…and Cherokee Park is a great place to see them! Join us for a family-friendly birdwatching hike through the Nettleroth Bird Sanctuary area of Cherokee Park, where we’ll listen and look for both resident and migratory birds. Learn more about the everyday birds who call Louisville home, and – with a little luck – spot a few of the more rarely-seen birds who pass through Louisville this time of year on their journey southward. Beginners to advanced bird enthusiasts are welcome.

The hike will be led by Major Waltman, Olmsted Parks Conservancy’s Project Director.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED:

Tickets are FREE for Olmsted Parks Conservancy members (children under 13 may accompany a paid adult for but must be registered in advance).

Tour is rain or shine but may be subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of severe weather. Weather-appropriate clothes and footwear with good tread are encouraged. Bring a pair of binoculars if you have them.

DAY-OF DETAILS:

We’ll meet by 9 am at the base of Maple Road where it meets the Scenic Loop. Nearby street parking is available along the Scenic Loop. Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure a prompt start. This is a moderate 2-mile hike along both paved and natural terrain, with some uphill and downhill slopes.
