Park Steward Program Open House

Join us for a free informational session to learn more about Olmsted Parks Conservancy’s Park Steward program. This informal, open house-style meeting will feature testimonials from veteran Park Stewards and cover commitments, responsibilities, certifications, scheduling and fees. For those interested in moving forward, mandatory introductory classes will take place on recurring Tuesday evenings in October.

A Park Steward is a volunteer leader who receives in-depth training by Olmsted Parks Conservancy staff in order to help with park projects, volunteer events and/or community outreach. Our training program teaches you about Frederick Law Olmsted, the history of Louisville’s Olmsted Parks system and its importance in our community, plant identification techniques, how to properly remove invasive species, how to install native trees and shrubs, and the basics of leading volunteer projects and activities. Trained volunteers will commit to assist with park projects, volunteer events and/or community outreach.
