Invasive Plant Removal and Prairie Establishment

Back to News & Updates

In support of invasive plant management in Cherokee and Seneca Parks, the Conservancy received a $17,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture specifically targeting the removal of woody invasive vegetation such as Bush Honeysuckle and Privet.

In addition, the grant allows for planting native warm season prairie grasses and flowers in formally turf grass areas and areas previously managed for invasive shrubs and vines. There are several environmental, ecological, and economical benefits that will be attained by this process.
