Bingham Park

VISUAL INCLUSION PLAYGROUND AREA

To ensure the safety of park goers and pedestrians, restoration improvements in Bingham Park will include an ADA playground, splash pad, accessible walkways, woodland areas, new restrooms, and enhanced recreational facilities. Louisville Parks and Recreation will submit renderings to the Architectural Review Committee for the Clifton Historic Preservation District.

Central Park

ADA-COMPLIANT PLAYGROUND, IMPROVED SIDEWALKS & ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Central Park enhancements ensure positive park experiences with various recreational opportunities essential to the quality of life. Park users will have amenities such as a new, ADA-compliant playground, splash pad with wheelchair-accessible surface material, natural playground to encourage imaginative play, improved connecting sidewalks, and designated accessible parking spaces. We hope to have this project completed by Summer 2023.

Chickasaw Park

pARK IMPROVEMENTS

Chickasaw Park holds a special place in many Louisvillian’s hearts. If you’ve been to a cookout or family reunion at Chickasaw, you know that it is a beautiful place to make memories. Park enhancements include pond restorations, nature playground, improved walking paths, butterfly and bee pollinator garden, and lodge improvements. Lodge improvements will include updated bathrooms, kitchen appliances, new windows, repairs to the exterior of the building, and fresh paint. This will ensure the historic Lodge will better serve the neighborhood for many generations to come and help make that next gathering extra special.

Cherokee Park

HOGAN’S FOUNTAIN ENHANCEMENTS

Olmsted Parks Conservancy is investing over $200,000 private dollars to meet the needs of the park users and the Cherokee Park neighborhood. Construction will include removal of all the asphalt surrounding the fountain and replace with granite cobble stones. There will be a connector trail to the natural surface trail system and an installation of sitting stones around the fountain. To ensure the safety of park goers and pedestrians, the driving lane will be reduced to 10′, a crosswalk from the fountain to the McCall Shelter, and plantings will be installed to restore green space. Work is expected to begin in spring 2023.

Iroquois & Seneca Parks

nATURAL tRAILS PROJECT

A beautiful new woodland trail has been finished in Iroquois Park above the Amphitheater. The crew will next install stone stairs to connect to the Corbly Trail leading to the North Overlook. Improved multi-use biking and hiking trails have recently been completed in Seneca Park. Next steps will be to install signage for the new trails. Work in Cherokee Park is slated to begin in Spring 2023.
