Donor Highlight: Beth Brown Completes Try-athlon

Back to News & Updates

Beth Brown celebrated her 60th birthday on October 21, 2014 by crossing a “to-do” experience off her bucket list: completing a triathlon. This was not just any triathlon, but one of her own design (quite appropriate for a semi-retired experiential designer and former principal of Rowland Design) in one of the places she loves most in the world, Cherokee Park. After completing a sixty minute swim at Lakeside, Beth headed over to Cherokee Park where she rode her bike for sixty minutes, and ran for sixty minutes on the trails to complete her “try-athlon”, as she likes to call it! But she wasn’t finished yet.

In honor of the park system she loves, Beth capped off her race day by making a generous donation to Olmsted Parks Conservancy. Beth, who says Cherokee Park is a place of healing and feels like home to her, stated she wanted to give the gift because of the many gifts she has received from the Park through the years. Happy birthday, Beth, and thank you for your inspiring gift to Olmsted Parks Conservancy!
