Fred's Facts

Iroquois Park was nicknamed “Louisville’s Yellowstone”. Frederick Law Olmsted’s design took advantage of the rugged terrain and the drama of the mature woodlands and scenic overlooks. At the heart of the park is a 10,000-year-old forest that blankets the knob’s steep hillsides with a great variety of rare plants and animals.

Fred’s Team: Park Heroes

April 14, 2011

As a result of the passionate efforts of over 15 members of Fred’s Team, funds are being raised to support the Frederick Law Olmsted Parks. These park supporters are training to walk or run the 2011 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon or mini-Marathon, and are each raising much needed money to support the historic parks.

Rob Staley, a runner for Fred’s Team, did all his race training in Afghanistan. He will run the mini-Marathon while home on R&R. Rob says, “I am thrilled I can be on Fred’s Team and give back to the Olmsted parks. After looking at dirt and rock for the past several months I realize just how fortunate we all are to have such beautiful green parks.”

We congratulate these amazing Park Heroes for their dedication! You can support Fred’s Team by making a donation.
